Why is it called a Savonarola chair?
The name “Savonarola” (the most common name for the chair), derives from a chair found in the convent of San Marco in Florence, Italy which was used by the 15th century Italian Dominican priest Girolamo Savonarola. The style was so beloved that it was preserved even beyond him. This antique is one such chair.
This treasure is in absolutely fantastic condition all around, front to back, side to side, top to bottom. There is no crack anywhere in the wood and the fabric is in excellent condition.
