The artwork on the plaque is called “Breakfast Under the Big Birch” (originally painted in 1896) by the beloved Swedish painter Carl Larsson. The people depicted around the table are not random models; they are Larsson’s wife, Karin, their children, and their family dogvcapturing a casual, sunny morning in the backyard of the family’s cottage, Little Hyttnäs, located in Sundborn, Sweden. This cottage became the blueprint for the globally recognized “Swedish country style,” which focuses on light colors, airy spaces, and functional family living.
This specific framed wall plaque edition by Royal Copenhagen was limited to a total of 9,500 numbered pieces worldwide. Unlike standard wall plates that have holes drilled into the porcelain rim for hanging wire, these plaques were custom-cast to be permanently mounted directly into their heavy, black-lacquered wooden frames at the factory.
