Rare Vintage Matched Pair Handlan Saint Louis Hanging Kerosene Railroad Lanterns

$140.00

Description

Set of 2 Handlan, Inc. Lanterns Stamped Made in St. Louis, USA.

These Handlan kerosene lanterns date from the about the 1920’s, and may have been used primarily in the locomotive cabin. They could hang against the side, or remain stable if set on the floor. Locomotives were equipped with both clear and ruby red signal lanterns. There is a latch in each to keep the top in place, but it lifts up easily for lighting or for removing the lens and wick. Each lantern has the fixtures inside and the knob for turning the wick up and down is present. The lanterns are marked HANDLAN INC and St. Louis on the clear globes and HANDLAN USA on the tops. The bases of these lanterns have a large fuel tank. I probably don’t have to tell you that these are a pretty cool piece of vintage railroad history and would look great in a shop or man cave type environment.

Price shown as for the pair. Available individually at $75 each.
