This unique decorative accent is often referred to as a cachepot, trinket box, or small planter.
The basket structure on top creates a hollow cachepot / planter area once the lid is removed. It does not have drainage holes, so if it is intended to house plants, you would want to use pre-potted small succulents, air plants, or artificial greenery.
