I have a unicorn for you here. This is a vintage 1960s mid-century parlor table lamp styled as an electrified kerosene parlor lamp, featuring a vibrant turquoise-blue pressed glass base paired with its original multi-panel paper shade.
These could be found during the 1960s Hollywood Regency and mid-century revival eras. These lamps were manufactured to capture a nostalgic Victorian or Early American parlor look while offering modern electrical convenience.
The glass base features a distinctive “melon” or “onion” ribbed font style. This translucent, pressed aqua-blue glass has an integrated fluted pedestal stand, a style frequently produced by mid-century glass companies or imported to match colorful decade trends.
The gold-toned metal burner collar at the top mimics a historical oil burner thread, but it houses standard electrical components, with the power cord routed directly through the top assembly.
Here is a bonus; the hexagonal, paneled paper shade is a rare surviving component. It features a classic botanical pattern showcasing a large yellow chrysanthemum or dahlia flanked by smaller red hibiscus-style flowers and green foliage and is still in excellent condition. There are not many of these original shades still surviving, considering how long it has been since their production and the fact that they would made of paper and have become a rarity.
